Pregnant Moms who travel for work..

Ok so I don't have to travel much for work, but have to be away for the whole week.  I didn't want to tell work that i was pregnant before that date, but my manager who I am going with is one of those no breaks, no lunch type of people... I have to put it out there that I HAVE to eat and don't want to be packing and eating SNACKs all day from 8-5 or 6 and then going to the hotel to do more work!  I know she is going to make me freakin miserable!  What do I do.. do i tell them (her and the big boss) before we go so she knows i need to take a break for a nutricious lunch or what?  Ugh i am confused and I have to fly so I am going to need to pack whatever I need in a carry on with work stuff!  HELP!

Re: Pregnant Moms who travel for work..

  • If you have to tell them to maintain your healthy pregnancy...then, yes.  Tell them.  I traveled until 32 weeks, but my bosses knew early, and were very family-oriented.

If not, just have apples, cashews, etc. on hand so you can be getting the proteins, calories, etc. that you need.

I did a lot of conferences and trade shows, so I had to come up and be honest about my pregnancy.

  • I was just going to post about how hard it is to leave DD to travel for work, I am heading to Switzerland right now.

I did when I was pg with DD, but luckily I didn't travel until everyone knew.  It would be really hard for me to keep the secret because everyone I work with drinks a lot :)  Plus we end up going out to really nice places to eat with prefix menus, half of what is on the do not eat list.

I would probably tell if I were you.  You are over 9 weeks and this is #2, so they know that you can keep working well even as a Mom, something I know a lot of mom's have to deal with.

    Good luck!

  • Luckily when I travel for work, I'm making sales calls so I can adjust my schedule for snacks, lunches, etc.  Can you just be sure to ask to have lunch called in for the meeting?  We do that all the time when we're at corporate.  I'm holding off telling work for as long as possible, which makes this week's drinkfest event (we have bunches of people flying in for baseball & golf) should be interesting.

I would just pack yourself lots of snacks & hold off telling work for a little while longer.
