Ack! 4 miserable toddlers...

All of my kids have horrible stuffy heads. No coughs, not a lot of sneezing, but they have to run around with their mouths hanging open b/c they can't breathe through their noses. And when they do sneeze... woo-eee!!! Gross!!!

Last night Nora and Holden must have been feeling it coming on b/c they were up and down all night. DH took DS to couch to sleep with him there while I "slept" with DD. This AM they woke up with the stuffiness. Tess is a little behind with catching it, but both she and Holden wanted no part of their bedtime bottles. Needless to say, we are gearing up for a fairly horrible night.

So I finally come to my point/question... How do you do it??? How do you soothe 3 babies to sleep who can't breathe and don't want to be held but don't want to be put down? When we bring them all into our bed it's just a horrible free for all. Should I just let them CIO for a few minutes to see if they can self soothe or should I be extra nice and just cave b/c they feel so crummy? I am afraid that if I sleep with the girls in my bed that they will fall out (and I am on Lexapro which literally knocks me out; I could sleep right through it if they did fall), and DH needs to take DS b/c DS is so attached to me he constantly tries to rip my face off the whole time I hold him. ARGH!!!

Okay, it's only bad for a couple of nights. I know it won't last forever and that we can do it without losing our cool (hopefully), but do any of you seasoned moms have any words of wisdom to help us out?

Thanks in advance!!

  • I'm so sorry you have sick kiddos. I wish I had some advice to give to you. I know it's hard when they are all sick.

One thing that works well for us is to put the kids in the bathroom and run the shower on hot for a few minutes. The steam works wonders for their congestion plus it relaxes them.

    Hang in there!

  • I have no words of wisdom but just wanted to say sorry!!!  I wish I was up there now - I would take one off your hands for a little while!
