Okay we are SOOO going this weekend. We have a membership to the zoo but have only been to the WAP once. We didn't love it but I was PG and hot and miserable.
What else did you guys really enjoy?
P.S. should I bring huge a$s double stroller or just put DS in a sling and have DH corral DD?
We found it really uncrowded there, so I would think a double stroller would be fine.
DH and I enjoyed the train tour of the Africa section, although DS didn't seem very excited about it. It was so informative, though, and a nice opportunity to sit for awhile while still enjoying the scenery and animals.
DS loved the meerkats and flamingos, and they had a tortoise out for a walk when we first got there, which was really cool because we could get really close to it. He's kind of obsessed with birds, so he really liked all the birds we saw.
They also have a two-week-old cheetah in the Animal Care Center which is ridiculously adorable. DS really liked that.
In general, we just loved how open it was and how breathtaking the landscape was. We've been to the zoo twice before and we've never felt so relaxed there.
I know they also have lots of play areas for kids, but we didn't do any of that.
Have fun! DH and I both want to go back soon.

DD loves loves loves the WAP. She likes the zoo too ..... We have a sippy form the Zoo that she still asks fo ralmsot daily and that BIG drink/drink topper from WAP that she uses all the time.
Only thing that rivals her love of ZOO/WAP is Disneyland. She is STILL talking about Disney and we went when she was 2 (over a year ago).
Adorable pics (as always)! I actually don't care for the WAP as much as the zoo. I feel like it's a ton of walking and you never really get very close to any of the animals unless you pay extra for them to drive you out there in the little caravan. Glad you had a good time, though! Maybe you're just not as lazy as I am.
Re: San Diego Wild Animal Park is awesome!
I want to live in San Diego and feed lorikeets! WAAHHHH.
