Has anyone had laparoscopic surgery to remove cysts? What was your recovery like?
Its just nice to hear some 1st hand experiences I go in for this surgery tomorrow. (Bilateral ovarian cysts)
Thanks ladies!
Hopefully after this surgery I will be able to Ovulate again...although I was also diagnosed with PCOS, so I guess we will see what happens.
Re: Laparoscopic ovarian cyst removal - recovery?
I have had 3 laps to remove ovarian cysts... The first day is always the hardest... the second day you will feel a bit better and so on... I couldn't walk the stairs in my home for the first 3-5 days but after that I was fine.. Also note that you might have terrible gas pains... With each surgery I had shooting gas pains into my shoulder... Overall you could expect a complete recover by day 6 ie, walking around without pain, not feeling as exhausted...
I found after surgery #2 that aroma therapy helped me to relax at home...?Lavender?helped me sleep ?
Good Luck and feel free to ask specific questions?
?
good luck
The length and intensity of your lap will affect your recovery time, but it should be anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks.
I had mine done Feb. 26 and I'm just starting to get back into the swing of things. However, I was out for over 3 hours and had a lot of cyst removed along with extensive laser ablation.
Be extra easy on yourself the first few days, and your recovery will go faster. I suggest sitting up / being propped up as much as possible and using a heating pad to help with the gas. Also, you might want to get some popsicles for your throat. It will be scratchy from the breathing tube.
Don't worry, you'll be back to yourself in no time. Best wishes for tomorrow!
The first few days following were pretty tough. I was off of work for 6 days but should have taken another day off or only gone back a 1/2 day. The gas pains were terrible!!! I am lucky that I had my husband there around the clock to get me things, let the dogs out, etc. Without that I wouldn't have made it. GL!!!
