NBR: Bare Minerals ?

Anyone use it?  Opinions?  My skin is crap.  Just plain crap.  I have tried everything under the sun it feels like and it just looks not pleasant.  I'm thinking about trying Bare Minerals to hopefully at least have it look better even if it really isn't.  I just wanted to get opinions on it first.  Please share!

  • Love it. Love love love.

I attribute my skin clearing up significantly to the use of Bare Minerals and switching to Philosophy skincare products.

  • Ditto with Lauren! I love it! It feels so great on the skin, especially in the summer months when it can get really humid. I can never use liquid foundation again or anything else other than BM.
  • I don't use Bare Minerals but I just started using Pur Minerals, they sell a starter kit at Ulta for about $35 that has the foundation and a couple of the powders.  It is great so far and doesn't rub off my skin like liquid foundation did.
  • My skin is also total crap. It doesn't matter what products I use on it, the only thing that has ever worked for me is going to the plastic surgeon's office and paying $500 a pop for an acid/laser treatment. Did it before the wedding, haven't done it much since! ;)

Anyway, I'm pale and BM was too dark for me and I looked like an Oompa Loompa.

I recently started using Estee Lauder double wear powder foundation and really like it. I am using Bobbi Brown's concealer stick...I think it contains clay or something, it's made to use on acne.

I want to add that even though I don't consider myself the palest of pale, I still use the lightest shade they have. I can't imagine if I was *truly* fair-skinned - I probably wouldn't find a shade that works.

  • Bare Minerals is all I can use...I have pretty sensitive skin (very limited on soaps, etc that I can use) and I've tried the "other kinds" of mineral makeup, but I keep going back to Bare Minerals.

The Fashion Mall has a Bare Minerals store...go in there, have them find your color and try it out!

  • I hated it. It looked chaulky/flaky on my face. I have pretty good skin for the most part and generally just wear a tinted moisturizer. BM didn't cover any of the minor blemishes...it seemed like I wasn't wearing anything at all.

I wanted to like it because I like the idea of something so light and natural, but it didn't work for me.

  • Ohh... Oompa Loompa would not be good!  I am sooo not makeup savvy but know there is an Ulta very close to me.  I may have to go in there and see if they can help me with it.  Thanks ladies!
