Maternity clothes? - in store/online

Good morning all!

My regular clothes are just starting to feel a little snug so I was thinking I should invest in some maternity pants etc before I run out of things to wear.

I was thinking of stopping by Old Navy on my way home.  have you had any luck buying maternity clothes in store?

I've only looked at Target and Walmart and their selections in store have been tiny.  Wondering what your experience has been like?

Re: Maternity clothes? - in store/online

  • Did quite well at Destination Maternity yesterday, but overall have done better with Old Navy.com and Gap.com.

  • i have had luck at on in store and online i went in store to figure out my size there and then have ordered a bunch?
  • I've bought a couple things from Target, but you're right - super small selection usually.  I just order from Gap and ON online now - none of our stores carry maternity.
  • ON has some super cute flowy/maxi dresses in store and online - i have been living in them for last week and they are so comfy.  i can throw a cardigan over them and wear to work, or casual/out running around and shopping...they are great!
  • The Old Navy by me has a tiny selection in-store but they have a big selection online.  Although, I plan on returning half the stuff.  Even though it's cheaper $$, it's just not worth it for me - nothing fits nicely at all on me.  I spent a little more at Target yesterday on a couple things, but they were much mroe flattering.

  • I have bought a few tops/skirts/pants from Old Navy online and have been very happy with them!

  • I bought jeans from old navy because thats the only place I could find pants in long without spending a fortune. But I personally have to go in stores to try stuff on because typically most mat pants are 32 inseam and I need atleast 34 inseam so it doesn't look like I'm wearing flood pants. I do have a pair from Motherhood and there short but I deal with it, and they are way more comfy then my jeans from Old Navy. The secret fit belly pants fit much better and it feels like your wearing nothing over your tummy!
  • I've had no luck at all in store, with the exception of a Target trench coat I bought this weekend. ALL of my purchases have been online at Gap and Old Navy.

  • Our Old Navy doesn't have any in store. I usually shop online from them, returns are super easy.

The Target here also has a very small selection, but I've gotten a few cute things. It's really hit or miss with pregnancy clothes. I'm hoping that I can do some shopping in my hometown next week. They should have a lot more stores to choose from.?

  • i racked up a bill at destination maternity as well robyn haha

but i also went to old navy and they had a very very tiny section~ i did not purchase on site because they had a bigger selection online (and i will make one big purchase then)... i most likely won't get pants there (they never fit me right) and because i really like motherhoods secret belly fit (wanna go back for more of those)... and like someone else said, you can return in store for items bought online (from old navy)!  which i love that idea since half of stuff i purchase online is a 50/50 chance of me really liking it haha

  • I have bought clothes from Motherhood, Kohl's, ON and Gap. I went to one ON store and they have a very limited selection of maternity. Luckily I was able to find a pair of jeans, so it may be worth it for you to check it out. Otherwise with ON I have ordered online. Make sure you get several sizes and take advantage of the free shipping when its available.

  • I hated most of Targets maternity clothes (at least the bottoms).  They just didn't seem to fit right.

I LOVE Gap maternity.  You can find them in some stores (check online -- they're often in a Baby Gap).  I like Old Navy too, although not for work stuff.  The good thing about Gap and ON is that they come in normal, numbered sizes.  Once you figure out what works for you at Gap and ON, you can order online.

There's a Destination Maternity opening in my city in a couple weeks, and I'm excited to check that stuff out too.  I don't like Motherhood, but DM is supposed to have stuff from A Pea in the Pod also.
