2nd Trimester

26 weeks and we FINALLY have a name!

Emberly Emma!!

I'm still not 100% on it, but it's the only one that DH and I have agreed on at all.

what do you think?

Re: 26 weeks and we FINALLY have a name!

  • Honestly? Emberly sounds like it's made up. And I think putting it with Emma is like repeating the same name twice. Sorry.

  • It's different, I like it.
  • we found it in a baby name book.. it means bouncy and enthusiastic.

our other ones we didn't really agree on were: Rachel, Maya, Briley... but we didn't want a very popular one.  We thought about Emma for a first name but that's too popular too right now! (it's a family name which is why we're using it)

  • Emberley is different .... never heard it before .... but I agree with pp putting it with Emma sounds like its repeating ...
  • Yeah, I totally understand not wanting to use a super popular name. That would have eliminated a couple of my favorites right off the bat. I just think she'll end up correcting people a lot if you go with Emberly. People will think she's saying Kimberly (even though they sound nothing alike) just because they've never heard of it before.

That being said... My name is quite odd, so I'm used to correcting people. They usually get it after the 4th or 5th time you say it.  :)

  • I dont like it
  • NMS. And you'll probably have to correct. Really not a fan of first and middle names that start with the same letter, personally.
  • It's fine - definitely NMS and I agree that she will have to correct people her whole life ("No, not Kimberly... EMberly!").  But I really don't think you should pair it with Emma.  That's too much for me.  I would pair it with one of your other choices you mentioned... Maya or Rachel.

  • Sorry but I am not liking the way it sounds.  Maybe if you used one of the names with something different but they sound very strange together.

  • Emberly is different but I agree with some of the girls, she might have to correct people all the time that think she said Kimberly. I don't like Emma as a middle name, I think Rachel will go betterSmile
  • * sigh * we're going to be those people at the hospital w/o a name still! I really liked Maya and Marissa, but since our daughters name is Makenna, husband has vetoed all names that start with M (or end in A)

Then we really liked Rachel Emma, but everyone said "man you must have loved friends" which is not where we got it from..

I know we just need to pick something, b/c someone will have an opinion about everything, but we're still not really getting anywhere with it!!

Agreed.  What about Kimberly? I don't think that's terribly popular and it's a lovely name.

  • I like Emma, and as popular as I keep hearing the name is, I've never actually met anyone with the name, so it doesn't bother me.

Emberly is nms, and honestly, if I heard it without seeing it written out, I would probably think you were saying Kimberly and I had misheard you.

It reminds me of the children's artist, Ed Emberley. Honestly, I think she'll have a lot of people switch the names around assuming Emberley is supposed to be the last name.

Ditto.  Also, I couldn't find it in either of my baby name books...  Please, please don't use it.  Naming a person is such a serious decision...

I was going to say the same thing.  Sounds made up and , and Emma is repeative.  It just seems like a twist on Kimberly.  It's not my style at all.

  • Definitely not a fan. Sorry!!

  • I agree complete- I think Emberley is cute, but paired with Emma it's very repetative. Actually, Emma could even be a nickname for Emberley.
  • I am sorry but I think that name is a hot mess.
