You all know that my DH works for Target so my opinion is biased but I get so tired of hearing about how bad their returns are!! Ya'll wouldn't believe the crazy stuff people try to pull with returns. They lose tons of money. This is why they have to be strict. I honestly don't understand why people think it's their right to return something if they can't show proof of purchasing it! I think we're just so used to being able to do it that now we don't like it when stores take it away. If I owned a store, I would do the same though. Sorry, vent over! ![]()
Anyway, Target does let you make registry returns without a gift receipt. They had changed this over a year ago but got complaints and since changed back to what they have now. When you go in the store go to the registry kiosk thing and bring up your registry. Sign in and print a "purchase log". If someone has bought if off of your registry and it's on there, you can return it and get a gift card with no questions or problems. I did it over and over during my pregnancy. Also, if it's not on your registry, then make it be on your registry! Sign in online, add the item, and then change the quantity! We even had some things that were not available to add online and therefore couldn't add ourselves online. So we went to the store, told them we wanted to add items to our registry and go the scanner, found the items, added them, then changed the quantity online, and returned them easily. There is some kind of dollar limit per item but it's very high. I'm not sure what it is but I returned a monitor that was almost $100 without a receipt (using the purchase log) and they let me without problems.
FYI-If you are returning things that are not on a registry the rule is $35 per "instance" (so it can be multiple items up to that limit) twice in a year with your drivers license. Also, if you do a "no receipt" return on a $2 item, that counts as one of your "instances" so don't waste it on something small.
Re: PSA Target registry returns are super easy!!
I'm glad to hear they changed their policy for registry returns back. I didn't register there b/c my sister had so many issues w/ her registry when she was pg w/ my niece that I just didn't want the hassle. Fortunately, I was able to get everything I wanted/needed from elsewhere.
If you do have a registry return, are they able to pull up the price the person paid for the item and give you that much, or do you just get whatever the last sale price is? I am curious since this is the one thing I have been annoyed w/ BRU about - they don't track how much the item was sold for so you get whatever they feel like giving you if you don't have a gift receipt.
Ditto Shelly!
Why can't everyone be like BBB! They take everything and anything that scans!! It's the best. Maybe bed bath and beyond can open up a baby store!
Every time that I returned something from our registry without a receipt, they gave me the regular price, no sale price or lower price at all. Even with the expensive monitor that I mentioned returning. I don't think they track the purchase, just give regular price.
Wouldn't be good for baby registry but the place that I liked registering the most for our wedding was Macys. They were able to pull up each item and tell me exactly when purchased, what they paid, where they bought it, all kinds of stuff. You'd think with technology everyone would be doing this. It would help stores out too.
Actually, the ironic thing is that BBB has started selling baby stuff on their website! If only they had it in stores, I would have registered there.
