For Moms with Multiples, when they were infants, what did you have in your second car? Did you get additional infant carrier bases or use convertible car seats?
Right now, we have 2 infant carriers and received 2 convertible seats but I'm not sure if we should get 2 more bases in the second car for now?
Thanks in Advance!
Re: Second Car - additional Bases or Convertible Car Seats??
You know, if I could do it over again, I think I'd get the convertibles for the second car from the get go. 99% of the time we used my car and it wouldn't have been too big of a deal to use the convertibles.
Also, you might want to think about what your day care arrangement will be - if you will take them to DC and share dropoff / pickup responsibilities, I'd probably go for the extra bases for the convenience.
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
We didn't do either. We just take my car wherever we go and on the rare occasion when my husband's watching them and I'm going somewhere else we just switch cars. It's never been a problem.
If you are going to be using both cars a lot (like one of you drops them off and the other picks up or something) I'd probably go with just extra bases. If the second car's only going to be used rarely you can also always just belt the infant seats in without a base... just one more option
depends on how you will use them.
For us- the twins will be at daycare and if there is a day that DH might pick them up (and not me) I'd need him to be able to snap the car seats into his car - so the bases are a must.
they also take up SOOOO much less space - the convertible seats facing rear make it really hard in many cars to adjust the front seats as far back as you might need- and to have it like that all the time- just for an extra car that the babies don't ride in often- IMO, would be a total waste.
we'll be using the infant seats for as long as possible with the twins, in both cars.
We just got convertibles for the second car. The way I look at it, is you have to buy the convertibles eventually anyhow, so you might as well get as much use out of them as you can. Plus it saves you the money you would pay for the bases.
