Dresser question

We bought a dresser from Target (white, 4 drawer, Cottage Collection) and it stinks.  Literally.  I opened the drawers to let it air out, but what can I clean it with?  I was thinking Murphy's Oil Soap.  I just don't want to ruin it but I can't take the smell.  DH threw out the box and assembly instructions, but I don't think it said how to clean it anyway.

Thanks.

Re: Dresser question

  • If it is nice outside I would sit it on your porch and let it air out. You don't want to cover up the smell with something else you want to get rid of smells all together.

  • You could also try putting some arm & hammer or a dryer sheet in it for a while, those usually absorb smells.

Yeah maybe some boxes of Arm and Hammer! Or maybe spray it with Lysol?

  • If you can't take the entire thing outside maybe just take the drawers out for awhile?

But I agree with the other girls lysol...and then maybe some of those smelly things you can for drawers.  Or candles...to put in the drawers, not burn just sit in there?  (just to leave in there for awhile)

  • if you put a disposable pie plate in each drawer with charcoal in it... the old fashioned kind, not the one with lighter fluid, it takes the smell out of a lot of things... and then i would suggest the dryer sheets as well.
  • Let it air out for awhile, it is probably the paint and particle board. After it airs out put car air freshners in the drawers for a few days. Baking soda works well too!
