Baby Names

Two Things

#1 - I think you ladies will enjoy this one. We just hired a new receptionist and yesterday at lunch I got to talking to her. When she told me she had two children of her own, I asked her what their names were. She replied, "Abercrombie and Sterling." They are both boys. Indifferent

#2 - I added more names to my names list and reset the votes, so tell me what you think!

Re: Two Things

  • Also, I voted - I like a lot of the names.  I really like Violette, but I would spell it Violet.  Otherwise, it will be misspelled every time.

  • Abercrombie...really?  That's just bad.
  • lmfao!  If she was gonna go that route, "Fitch" would have been cuter.

Most awesomely bad name at my high school:

Bonjovianna.  That's right.  Bon Jovi Anna.

    Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!

It's the French version of Violet, pronounced "Vee-Oh-Let."

  • I actually knew this nice, old cowboy named Sterling, and I always thought his name was cool. I don't think I would name my kid that (maybe a mn?), but oh well. Abercrombie is ridiculous!
  • I knew a Sterling in college. I always thought the name sounded pompous (and, unfortunately, it fit the person).

I also knew an Abercrombie... but it was a horse! And a mare at that.

Ah, well if it is pronounced differently, that makes sense.  Although, knowing that, I might steer clear of it, because I imagine it will still be misspelled a lot! (or have to be spelled a lot). But if that is not a big deal to you, it is a very pretty name.

The spelling doesn't really bother me, it's the pronunciation more or less. I mean, it's really not pronounced like "Violet" and I think it would irk me to have to repeatedly correct people on how to properly say her name. Either way, it's staying on my list :)

I love Violette (prefer Violet), Vivienne, and Lydia. Lydia is on our list too!?
  • *gasp*

Poor kids. I hope they have a normal middle name to go by! ?

  • omg, those poor boys.

I still like Vivienne Kate the best. I also like Iris.
