XP on SAIF
(Long - but let me preface by saying I'm doing well and all 3 babies are going strong!)
So on Wednesday morning around 12:00AM I woke up in pain. I had had similar pain twice within the last week and RE attributed it to rupturing cysts. So I assumed this pain would be the same - I took two Tylenol and lay down. But the pain kept getting worse and worse and by 1:00AM I had the RE's PA paged. She told me to go to the ER. So by the time I got there, the pain was unbelievable. I was in a wheelchair at the check in desk begging for pain medicine. They got me admitted, I saw a doctor and they gave me 6cc of morphine. The nurse assured me that it was a lot of morphine and the pain would go away soon. Except it didn't. At all. So they kept giving me morphine but the pain wouldn't stop. I had an u/s to check the babies and they were fine, but they still didn't know what was wrong.
The ER doctor paged my RE who came in. Together with the surgeons there they determined that I either had appendicitis, an ecoptic pregnancy or a twisted ovary. They scheduled another u/s. At this point, I can't even describe the pain. I was convulsing and sobbing and begging them to just knock me out, which of course they couldn't do. At this point I had had 18 ccs of morphine and no relief.
So I had another u/s which was pure agony and they still couldn't figure out the problem. So they finally decided that my RE would operate - he'd go in laproscopically and try to find and fix the problem. I was SO releived to go to surgery because I knew I'd be unconscious soon. So they took me up to the operating room around 11:00AM - so at that point I'd been in unbearable pain for 11 hours straight. But before they could do anything they had to move me from the gurney to the operating table. It was horrible. The pain - OMG. I remember screaming and screaming and as soon as I hit the table my RE yelled, "Just put her out! Put her out now!" And they did and it was wonderful.
I woke up to learn that my right ovary had twisted like a corkscrew around my fallopian tube. My right ovary and tube had to come out. But the pain was gone. The post-surgery pain was nothing compared to the pain before and the morphine worked on that. I spent the night in the hospital and had an ultrasound yesterday - all 3 babies were doing great. They've grown and their heartbeats were all in the 170 range.
I'm feeling much better today. I go for an u/s with RE Monday and hopefully this is the end of the bad things for quite awhile!
Re: XP: Had emergency surgery on Wednesday
OMG!! I can't image how scary that was for you. I'm glad you are doing well, now. Wow I'm not sure what to even say. I will keep you in our thought that all goes well from now on.
wow! you have been through a ton. You poor girl. Im so sorry you had to go thru this and that you lost your R ovary and tub. SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad to hear the babies are all doing well
Goodness!! I am so sorry to hear about all of the pain. That must have been so scary. I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better and that all three babies are looking great.
RE said that my ovary was enlarged and something as simple as turning the wrong way could make them twist. Usually they twist back but mine just did not,
OH MY GOODNESS. ?YOU POOR POOR GIRL! i'm so very sorry that you had to go through all that pain. ?you must have been terrified. ?glad to hear you finally have some relief...but i'm sorry about the loss of your ovary...good news is that there's always the left! i hope you're feeling better and that the rest of your surgery is drama-less.
-april?
Holy cow girlfriend. You have gone through a crazy few weeks here. I'm glad the babies are all doing well.
Do they know why your ovary twisted around like that? Was it from all the meds you were on?
I'm sorry that you're going through all of this, but hang in there. Despite all your set backs, stay positive for the health of you and your babies.
