Multiples

emmysmommy07

Hi!!

Gaven was wedged between my placenta and pelvis so he was born w a misshaped head. The helmet helps round his head again. Also alot of babies with torticollis need it. Gaven had a mild case of it, but it was the his position on my belly that cause the problem. The torticollis didn't help. Most insurance wont pay for it since they consider it to be cosmetic. The misshape of the head causes no damage to the brain or its develop. Since he will need to wear it for most of the day (22 hrs a day for 4-5 months) he will get use to it and not even notice he has it. They always say that is harder on the mom than the baby.

Congrats!!!?

  • Thanks for answering my question.  I hope that it wasn't too nosy.  Poor little guy, but at least like you said, he will get used to it.  I am sure it is much harder on you than him.  I don't understand why the insurance wouldn't pay, but they are always looking for a way out.  I wouldn't consider it cosmetic though.
