My girls are almost 23 months old, small for their age (weigh about 20 lbs each) and have never tried to climb out of their cribs. They also wear sleep sacks, which would make it more difficult to climb out if they were trying.
We traded our Jardine cribs over the summer after they were recalled and went with what I thought were nice Graco cribs. One of my girls jumped and fell against the side last week and one of the slats broke out. It took my husband days to actually speak with someone b/c Graco doesn't actually make the cribs - according to them it's another company who just uses their name. Anyway, this other company agreed to send a crib side (the crib does have a 5 year warranty) but then had the nerve to say that they recommend that babies be moved to toddler beds when they are 15 months old!!! Is this woman insane??
Now, I know that there are some who have had to move theirs to toddler beds early b/c they were climbing out early but this seems absurd. To me, it would be MORE of a safety issue - these cribs convert to "toddler beds." So what's the difference if I take one of the sides off? Now they can fall out of the opening or fall back and break another slat.
