I guess I have bigger things to freak out about... but yay for you. Teach proper usage to the world...
I agree, I have better things to get upset about, especially on a board that is just for fun. A couple grammar nazis are funny, then everyone tries to jump on board, and it just gets annoying.

I am going to 3rd this. I am new here, and don't want everyone to jump on me & start a thread like I saw yesterday, something along the lines of "sheeesss baccck" but really, why are some people here so nasty--I thought a board like this was for support & sympathy. Do we really need to consult a dictionary before posting so that we don't get reamed? I wouldn't treat my "real life" friends like that, and especially not someone who came to me with fears/excitement/questions because they are experiencing something new.
This debate reminds me of my first job as a copy editor when my boss wouldn't let us use the word "host" as a verb. Instead, we got stuck with bulky phrases like "The home team will play host to the visitors tomorrow." We sounded ridiculously out of touch.

Amen to that. We might not always like it (I'm still annoyed by "ain't" getting a dictionary entry years ago), but it changes.

Stupid bump making me triple post.
This bothers me, too.
