I'm pretty new here, and to TTC in general, but I'd love some advise on a subject that has been torturing me for days...
I went on DH's insurance after we got married and unfortunately the GYN I had been seeing all of my life (who actually delivered me) is not covered under my plan. I started seeing a new GYN at Park Nicollet Meadow Brook (St. Louis Park) and I'm a little dismayed. It seems as though unless you have a medical reason you have to see a NP instead of an MD. My problem is that my previous GYN told me at 18 that due to ovarian cysts and endo. that I should talk to him before TTC. Since I can't do that, I brought it up with the NP who said that it was unlikely that issues I had 11 years ago would affect me today if I wasn't having any similar symptoms. BUT...I've been on BCP mostly for the past 11 years to suppress symptoms! She gave me the standard wait until you've tried a year then we'll talk. But the words of my trusted and no longer available GYN keep ringing in my ears.
I'm interested in exploring other options in the GYN department and I'm looking for some references. We have HealthPartners insurance, and while I can pretty much go anywhere I want, the best benefits seem to obviously be with HealthPartners clinics, which I am unfamiliar with. I live in Mounds View and would prefer a hospital/clinic that is close to me. I would prefer to start fresh with a clinic that offers me both a General Practitioner as well as a GYN, but I'm also okay with splitting these up if need be. Any suggestions on GYN's/Clinics/Hospitals?
TIA!

I also have Healthpartners ins-even though we could have different plans-but I go to Ob/Gyn PA of Edina/Burnsville. I know Edina is still pretty far away I've been going there for 8 years and I really like them. There are 6 docs and 2 NP. You can see whoever you want to!
Do you think you could try to call your old Dr and leave a message for him regarding the insurance issue and see if he has any words of advice or maybe see if he can recommend someone else for you to see?
I went to a Family Practice doc while I was pregnant. I like to idea of mom and baby seeing the same doctor - it's more personal I think. They will always refer you to a specialist if there's something they can't handle. My doctor didn't deliver my daughter but she still sees both of us and it's special because she can remember when I first came to her pregnant - and now my daughter is 9 months old!
I'm going to the OBGYN in Fridley - they are in the professional building next to Unity Hospital and I've been very pleased with them so far. Dr. Pam Green and Dr. Lex Lawson are great. I don't think they have general practice in that building but you can go to any Allina Clinic they are associated with.
Good Luck!
I only went to Planned Parenthood for the longest time. I thought that their dr.'s and NP's were FANTASTIC. I used them all the way up until I got pregnant....I found that they were very helpful in preparing me for TTC and understanding my medical conditions (had a LEEP and Cone Biopsy).
