Can you microwave Rice Cereal + formula to warm it up?

This is what the daycare told me they would do to heat up the rice cereal...I thought you couldn't microwave stuff but maybe it's ok when it's just a little bit of formula mixed in?

What do you do to warm it up?

We put it in the microwave for about 8 seconds.  The anti-microwave thing is to avoid hot spots - as long as you mix it up *really* well afterwards so it's all the same (safe) temperature, I don't see what the issue is.
