I also agree w/ you that in your particular case, putting your newborn/infant  in someone else's care is probably best for all involved.  :-)

Good god woman would you get a therapist already.  One that specializes in RAD. (not unusual in kids who spend extensive time in hospitals as infants btw).

I firmly believe being with the mother or father is the most natural and ideal situation for most newborns.

I think that's the myth we are sold from our own childhood. I believed it too. Until I had DS. Now I know better. I think until you have had a child who is demanding you don't get it.

I agree.  I think that introducing another individual that the baby can trust is just fine.  Everyone talks about how BF is so natural, women have been doing it forever, we should BF forever, blah blah blah.  Did we forget that the extended family unit used to help raise children as well?  It was never just the mom that was responsible for all caregiving.  If you don't have a support network available to help you, you have the means to obtain one and that is what you desire, then why not?

There were many times where I was all too happy to drop my cranky baby off at daycare, staying home and dealing with it would have made me need meds.  And, you know what, my kids were happier there with lots of friends and toys to distract them.
