not a fan, especially of the spelling. it looks made up. i also went to school with a girl named jene (with an accent on the last e) so i'm not even sure if there is a traditional spelling.

My dad is friends with a Shari. I don't think that sounds or looks made up. I am used to it though because he's been friends with her for many years. ?

I don't really like it because of the spelling. ?There are lots of pretty names with a similar feel: Janie, Jada, Kyra, Kayla.

Edited to add that I'm familiar with the name, and I've always thought it sounded like Jenny pronounced with a bad Southern accent (and I have a thick accent, myself!).

My roommate in college was Janae and she got compliments all the time. It was actually her middle name but she always went by Janae. She was an Antonia Janae.
