let me preface this by saying i would never be one of those parents who actually pushed my child into liking theater, sports, etc. just because it was something i was interested in.
that said, i REALLY hope my little girl develops a love for roller derby. i plan on skating until i have to retire, and at this point it's feasible that we could have a few years of bouting ("games" are called bouts, bouting is skating with your team against other teams) together. i just think it'd be really cool if my little girl ended up a little roller girl like her mommy
i know my husband is hoping our son wants to play football, and we both hope that both of our children express interests in art/music (he has a bachelors of fine arts and works in non-profit art, he's a bass player and i play guitar).
what interests of your own are you hoping your child picks up on?
Re: expectations?
I didn't play any sports in school nor did I join any clubs or do extracurricular activies so I just hope that my son or daughter does something!
I just want my child to be as freely imaginative as possible. I'm into all sorts of crafty type stuff, so it would be great if we could do crafty things together!

My DH hopes our child loves baseball, probably more so if it's a boy. He also hates soccer so we joke about what he would do if our child wants to play soccer. lol Obviously, we'd never turn down an interest in anything but Dh really hates the sport.
I would love for our child to be interested in reading and academics. I hope to expose him/her to all kinds of different cultures, art, and theater so they can be as well rounded as possible.
I plan to expose DS to all (or a lot of) sports and music activities. But I *hope* that he likes baseball more than the others (especially football!) Not sure about what instrument, but I'd love for him to enjoy playing one and be good at it. I'd also love to teach him to cook and be happy if he liked doing it.
If I have a girl, I really really really hopes she likes baking and cooking like her mom.
I always loved to read and write so I hope they like those, too. DS already loooves reading. When you buy a kid 500 books, it's hard for them not to be curious about them!
I am answering this for "fun" but I obviously want my kids to be able to pick what they want to do and I will support them if they are really passionate about something.

S/O roller derby - did you see last weeks Kath and Kim? That's all I could think about reading your post!
I would love it if our child loves horses as much as I do. He or she doesn't have to be a elite equestrian or anything, but just sharing that love would be fun! I'll be happy though if our child just loves animals. I have nightmares that we'll have a baby who is allergic to them!!!
