Medicine question?

I don't know about yall but this nasty congestion and sore throat has been going around and I have managed to avoid it until now. I have been very lucky in not getting sick at all since I've been pregnant but now I have caught this crap and it sucks. What are you ladies taking? I'm not a big med. person so something on the milder side. I just don't want it to get worse.

Re: Medicine question?

  • I think I'd be asking my dr this.. not an internet message board.

Did they not give you a list of approved medications??

  • I had that 2 weeks ago.   My doc said it was okay to take sudafed.    I told her I had Sudafed PE, and she said that was fine.

  • I had a killer sore throat awhile ago. I was taking natural throat lozenges and drinking warm honey mixed with orange juice (very interesting combo) but it helped!

You can call your doctor anytime to ask questions. Even if you have to leave a message someone will hopefully get back to you.

Try a neti pot for your congestion. It's tricky at first but it really helps. You can take plain tylenol too but I don't know what else- I try not to take anything unless I'm really miserable.

  • I didn't check to see how far along you were but my dr. said Sudafed was ok - but it's not the good Sudafed. LOL. Its not the one that you have to ask your pharmacist for - it's the one on the shelf that doesn't have....darn. I forget what it is. Ask your pharmacist - they should be able to tell you.  There is also a Robitussin you can take - non-alcohol one and it also doesn't have some ingredient. Again -check with pharmacist or your dr.  No reason to suffer though. :-(
  • Thanks ladies...I did ask my dr. and she said Sudafed but I just wanted opinions from ladies who used something else and it worked. Like I said I'm not a big meds. taker so I like the honey idea.
