My son is 4 and has been fully day time potty trained (both #1 and #2) for a year. However, at night he doesn't wake up to go and so I put "goodnights" on him every night. I would really like to get him out of those- not only are they expensive but I would like him to be fully potty trained. He just doesn't seem to wake when he needs to go- in fact, if I don't make him go before naps he usually has accidents. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks!
Re: Night potty training
I don't have experience with this. I just wanted to pass on what the program I'm in the middle of suggests for kids who are having night time issues.
Try to get your child to empty twice before bedtime. Start the routine with going to the bathroom and finish one last time with the bathroom before climbing into bed.
Wake your child one hour after they go to sleep (not bed. Sleep.) to go to the bathroom.
Wake your child one hour before they usually wake up in the morning to go to the bathroom.
The idea of the waking is get your child used to getting up in the middle of the night and for them to know it's also expected of them.
