DH and I are definitely going to want a jogging stroller but I don't know much about them. I hear a lot of you ladies talk about the Bob. Which one do you have? What do you like about it? Can an infant go in a jogging stroller? Is it too heavy to use as an everyday stroller?
TIA! Sorry for all the questions! There's so much to learn about all of this baby gear!
Re: Talk to me about jogging strollers
Our BOB jogger is one of our most used and loved baby gear purchases. I kept the single in the car at all times and used it as my everyday stroller when needed- that being said however, I wore Ty almost everywhere when out shopping/running errands.
I have a single BOB Revolution and a double- the one where the front wheel can lock into place. You'll want the fixed front wheel if you plan on jogging as a non-fixed wheel will kick out and cause you to lose control of your stroller. I put Ty in the BOB without the infant car seat at about 11 weeks- he had great neck control and I wasn't worried. I used an extra insert and neck support and it was great. He's been stuck riding in that thing ever since.
I now have the double and am not quite used to the extra size and weight. I look forward to the weather breaking so I can give it a go!
I can't rave enough about our stroller!! I looooooooooooove it!
We have the Bob as well, for our single stroller we have the BOB SUS which is a fixed wheel. We bought it because it recommended that stroller for avid runners. We only use the stroller for running, not everyday use. We put our DD in there at 4 months old. We bought the infant seat attachment but didn't use it.
For 2, we bought the BOB revolution. Which has the option to have a fixed wheel. We'll probably use this for runs when we can head to a trail and if we're out as a family. We are also think of using this as more of an everyday stroller vs the BOB SUS. We're keeping both because for longer more serious runs we'll be using the SUS with only one child.
We first bought a Jeep jogging/everyday stroller. I thought I would use it for errands like the mall and such. However, after trying to take that place into stores I quickly figured out it was not going to work very well. I started putting Chase in there around 3 weeks for errands. I didn't start running with it until he was much older. He probably would have been ready around 10 or 11 weeks like April stated. I would have just tucked him in with lots of blankets and head support.
When we started to run with it, we quickly found out that it was not a good running stroller. We then went out and bought a BOB revolution. We have taken that stroller on 8-10 mile runs on a paved trail. It was great! I love the shocks that it has to help absorb bumps. It is easy to open and close. It is also pretty easy to stick into the back of our Nissan Altima. I highly recommend it!
For 2 kids, I am looking at the Mountain Buggy. I want something that I can take to the mall. That stroller could be used for short runs. I can't see myself going on 5+ mile runs with 2 kids. I will save our single stroller and just take one for the long runs.
