Re: Do you like

  • GraySON- 100% boy.

Avery is our girl name but it works for a boy, too. I mean, it WAS a boy name first. I don't think it's too close to Ava.

  • Grayson for a boy.

I have always love the name Avery, I wish it weren't getting so popular. I don't think it's too close for a cousin, maybe if it were a sibling.

  • I've heard Grayson for boys and girls.  A girl in DD's class is named Gracyn so just knowing how it's spelled makes it sound more feminine.  I like Avery and don't think it's too close for a cousin.

  • Grayson is definately a boy

Avery.... love it! I don't think it's too close to Ava. It's on our list & DH has a cousin with a baby Ava. They live 3 hours away & we see them maybe 1x/year.

  • Grayson is definitely a masculine sounding name.  Avery is good for both girls and boys but I like it better as a girls name.

  • I think of Grayson as a boy name, probably because I know a couple.  I think of Avery as a girl name.  I like Avery but not Grayson.

It was. A long, long time ago. I learned that here though! I thought Allison was the one exception to the "son of" thing. Smile

I doubt it was ever a boy's name. The meaning is Little Alice. ?Also, Madison is unisex. Addison too

Oh, yes. They are definately unisex names now but most son names were boy names or surnames first. Addison means "son of Adam," Madison means "son of Matthew?" I think? Anyway, it's safe to say that MOST names ending in "son" were originally masculine names. It's a pretty obvious clue- if a name ended in daughter, I'd make assumptions there, too. LOL Not that I have a problem with unisex names. I am using one! Some sound more masculine than others (son or not).... until you get a million girls with the name and get used to them.

ditto (dd's name is Emerson, but for some reason Grayson sounds like a boy's name to me)

  • On Allison- since I spoke earlier based on what someone else said here, I looked myself and found this. Son of Alice

Yeah, I mean this isn't even something you would think to look up. Everyone knows Allison is a girl's name, KWIM? It just turns out that at one point it was a boy name .. but you know after a while when a name is used for so many girls, what parent wants to use it for their son? LOL

Yeah, I know what you mean!

  • Grayson is a boy's name.

Avery is also a boy's name, but it's turned into a girl's name.  It's not too close to Ava IMO.

  • I have an Avery Grace, and we will name a boy Grayson.

  • Grayson is definite boy.

Avery is becoming a definite girl's name, and I personally don't like how trendy it is.

  • Grayson- definitely a boys name

    Avery- can be either

  • Grayson sounds masculine to me, too.

Avery isn't too close to Ava IMO.

  • Grayson for  boy, Gracen for a girl.

Love Avery for both, but it's getting very popular.

Grace is a name.  Gracen looks like a typo.

I think Grayson (or any of the various ways to make it more feminine) is horrible, and Avery is not atrocious but definitely nms and approaching done-to-death.
  • Grayson is def. a boys name.

Avery is just okay for me.
