I post about this on 3rd tri a lot, as some of you may know. A lot of women hear that baby movement normally decreases as the baby runs out of room. This is NOT TRUE!!!
In the 3rd tri, you should feel baby movement consistently everyday. It is NEVER normal for movement to decrease.
It is normal to feel more soft, subtle movements as the baby grows and fewer all out kicks and punches. But the overall amount and pattern should remain the same.
If you suspect decreased movement in the 3rd tri, you need to eat or drink something sugary, lie on your left side, and count the number of movements you feel. If you feel less than 10 in 2 hours, you need to call your doctor. Anytime in the 3rd tri that you notice decreased movement, you need to call.
In 50% of stillbirths, the mom noticed decreased movement first. Knowing what is normal and what is not could save your baby's life.
I know this doesn't apply to you ladies yet, but I want to make sure everyone knows that this myth is wrong, and dangerous.
Re: Something I think you all should know
Yep, around 28 weeks. You don't have to do kick counts everyday--some docs recommend them, some don't think it's necessary--but you should do one if you notice your baby is not moving as much as usual.
Thank you so much for posting that. And by the way, your little girl is too cute!
