I want a rocker or glider that is upholstered.. Not like the wooden ones with padding, but everywhere I have looked they are running close to $500, and that's just not what I'd like to invest! Especially since they usually aren't upholstered in a color that will go well in the room! I was just wondering where you all found yours and advice on where to find a deal!
Re: Where'd you get your rocker/glider?
I ordered a Shermag from this site:

I actually got this color pictured.
we ordered ours from BRU - we got Rock-a-bye glider in Mint Green it was $399.99 (plus tax) but once I sat in it - i knew that I had to have it...
This isn't the color but here is a pic..

It take 12 weeks to come in....
I got mine at USA Baby... but we did pay $500.
To me it was worth the expense. I figure I will be sitting in it at all hours of the night and day for a long time. I already find myself going in there to read and relax because it is by far the most comfortable chair in our house right now.
We made sure to pay the extra for the stain coverage and warranty. We also had it covered in a material that matches the living room too... so we can use it in other rooms later. At USA Baby you get to pick your materials and colors so we got just what we wanted. The other benefit is that the reclining mechanisms are made for nursery use so it is really easy to put the footrest up and down without waking baby. Here's a pic.
I also have a rock-a-bye glider from BRU, it is the chenille one. It is originally close to $500 but we got it last month when they were all on sale if you bought a chair and an ottoman and we got it for about $360. So i guess not much help but you could keep an eye out for another sale to come up.
I bought the same one in tan microfiber from BRU. I bought it on sale for 30% off plus a 15% off coupon I had. It was around $300 for both.
We ordered a dutallier at Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg, MD.
It was more expensive than we wanted to originally spend, but we got it in a neutral beige and plan to move the rocker into the living room or our bedroom once the baby stops nursing.
I'd check out general furniture stores too, you might be able to find something that works and it will be lots cheaper if you don't get it in a baby store.
