I used as a reference to how DH was being and WHAM I was shunned. I never meant to offend anyone but the damage was done. It was something I typed without thinking of how people would react.
That reminds me of the time my niece came home from school talking about the "K" word. None of us could figure it out so her mom gave her permission to say it so we could be aware. The word was crap. So funny!
I saw a comedian the other night - he said about one of his stand-ups where he used the word "retarded" a lot - a woman appraoched him after the show and told him how offended she was and advised him that the accepted term is 'mentally challenged' and maybe he could start using that term instead in his show, to which he replied,
"you want me to use the words 'mentally challenged?' That's retarded."
I confess I laughed, and my father's youngest brother has Downs.

Is that really ghastly of me?
Nope. That story just made me LOL too!
I personally think that people are so hypersenstive about some things, it's hard to know when you will offend and when you won't.

I didn't see your OP, but using that word around here will usually get you the same reaction I'm guessing you got in the first place. Not cool. Not cool at all.

I don't plan on using again on any forum. Like I said I did not mean to offend anyone by writing it.
