RP: Anyone live in a Cape style house??

I also posted on 2nd Tri board... I am looking for some suggestions/opinions from anyone who lives (or lived) in a Cape style house. Mine has 2 bedrooms upstairs, one down. Right now we are upstairs with our 15mon old daughter, but baby #2 is on the way.. and I have no idea what sleeping arrangements to make! Can anyone tell me what they did if you have 2 kids (in 2 sep bedrooms), and the likes/dis-likes about it?

I'm contemplating staying upstairs (its the largest of the 3 bedrooms) and making the new nursery downstairs... that way it could double too as a play room during the day. I still can't make a decision and am hoping someone out there lives in a similar situation.

 Thank you!!!!

Re: RP: Anyone live in a Cape style house??

  • We used to live in a cape and our bedroom was downstairs.  Luckily (not that it did me any good at the time) we had a second bedroom on that floor that we would have used for a nursery had we stayed there.  As much of a pain as it is going to be to have to go upstairs to a nursery, I would not feel comfortable having either of my children on the lower level if I was not also there.  I think I would find a way to move my BR downstairs and have both children's rooms upstairs.  While I am hoping for myself to have my baby in her nursery from day 1, if I had that situation I might just keep the infant in my room in a pnp for a few months until she sttn.

    Good luck!

  • I have a Cape, and our house is set up in the same way. We've decided that we are putting the crib in our bedroom until the baby sleeps through the night. Then, moving DC#2 in with DS. We've also decided that we'll be selling this house b/c of lack of bedrooms on the second floor, and moving in the next year or so to a house where all the bedrooms are on the same floor.

Well our cape is set up a little differently....Our bedroom is on the 1st floor and the other 2 bedrooms are upstairs(we have an additional bedroom downstairs but it's small....we use it as our computer room)    DS slept downstairs in the computer room for a little over 3 months before we moved him upstairs to his room.

Our friends' cape has their bedroom upstairs and both of their kids' room downstairs.   Baby # 2 is still sleeping in their room in  PNP since he wakes up 3 times a night.   Their older one got moved downstairs when she was like 5 months old...I think,,,,she's 3 now so I can't remember exactly when they moved her.     She slept in the PNP upstairs too until they moved her.

  • i have two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs...we would have had two downstairs but the prior owner made the 2nd one a big bathroom.  our room is downstairs; her nursery will be upstairs.  we are keeping her in our room in a bassinett until she sleep longer hours then she'll move upstairs.  we have a bed in the other bedroom upstairs so I can always go up there if she has rough nights.  We have our baby monitor also we'll use.  I would prefer to be on the same floor but we don't have a bathroom upstairs yet.  This is the kind of house we could afford at the time, so we'll manage.
