Good question! I'm kind of a "skinny gal" but my husband fits in it just fine. He is 6 feet tall and 190 pounds. I think Frank at offyourrocker.ca can make them larger if that sounds too small? I could be wrong, but I might have read that somewhere on his site. I think he also has the specific measurements on his site, too.
The padding on the seat is firm. When I first sat down, it kind of suprised me, but it's very comfortable! The fabric itself is very soft!
Hey Ladies! This is Frank from Off Your Rocker. I just happened to be surfing these boards tonight and saw your posting.
Yes I can make a larger rocker, but the shipping will be higher because I would have to ship the chair in 2 boxes, not one. Shipping costs depend on where you live, of course. A standard sized chair has a seat that's about 20 1/2 inches wide. Also, the arms on my sleigh rockers are placed "outboard" a little bit from the seat, so the arm area is wider than you may think.
2or 3 months ago I made a rocker that was about 3 inches wider than a standard chair because the couple was having twins and she wanted to be able to nurse both at the same time! I didn't ask for details about that! LOL Anyway they were very happy with their purchase.
Yes my chairs are on the firm side but once the foam breaks in with a bit of use, they will soften quite a bit. However, they will always be on the firmer side, like a good office chair. I've sat in some gliders at ToysRUs and they're so squishy and soft, I wonder how any nursing moms could sit for an hour or two and not get back pain.
