I've been unsuccessful in getting my DD (2 months old) to nap during the day although she will sleep during the night. The pediatrician told me to try to get her to nap after 2 hours since she woke up.
Today, she woke up at 11am and finally we got her to sleep at 7pm - although this might mean that she'll want to play tonight....
For putting her to bed at night, I usually nurse her and put her directly in bed after. I don't know if this is giving her a bad habit though....
How many naps does your child take during the day and how long? Do you have any rituals/routines for getting your child to take a nap?
Also, how long does your baby sleep at night? I worry that if she sleeps a lot in the early evening that she'll be up in the middle of the night....
Re: How many naps does your baby take during the day?
DD is about a month older than your DD but even at two months she would nap about every two hours for about 30 min. But most of the time we would have to hold her or she would wake up. She would fall asleep nursing and then I would hold her til she woke up. On rare occassions she would nap for an hour plus.
Now, DD goes to bed anywhere between 7:30-9:00 (depending on naps that day). She's been STTN for the most part (I have to get up and put her paci back in) until the last week she has woken up and wanted to eat in the middle of the night. We wake up around 7:30-8am and then she is up for a couple hours, then takes a morning nap: I nurse her and she falls asleep, I wait abotu 5 minutes then go put her in her crib. She only sleeps about half and hour. For the rest of the day, she'll nap every 2-3 hours for about 30-45 minutes.
