my house is a disaster. whoa is me!

my DH was off for the last few days while i was working and therefore the house is a disaster.  i have to clean today because i just can't take it.  it makes me soo mad that he doesn't feel the need to help clean or even just pick up after himself.  It is like a loosing battle:  i talk to him about it, he says he will try harder, he changes for a week and then the old habits come back and he just moans that the girls are so busy that he just doesn't have time. ( but i am sure he has computer time and phone time, etc! )  :-( 

any suggestions?  should i just leave the house a disaster and make him help when he gets home from work??!?  i haven't seen the girls since monday ( they were at my aunt and uncle's house and then i was working ) so i just want to hang out and take a walk or something with them.  why should i always have to clean up the slack...ugh.
