to take receiving blankets to the hospital?

They give them out like candy on Halloween at my hospital. Every mom I know has like 10 "Sacred Heart Hospital" receiving blankets in her personal stash.

Actually, I don't know why you would need them.  They give you receiving blankets to use while in the hospital, along with little t-shirts.  I dress my kids in the "going home" outfits that I've picked out for them, which often have matching blankets, and leave the hospital t-shirts and blankets behind when we go home.

I don't think you need them at all. Actually I never had much use for receiving blankets at all.
