What kind of formula are you buying? One thing that I really struggled with was buying generic formula. But I got over that and Nora has been living on store-brand formula for 4 months now! We buy the Kroger brand (it's called Comforts) and it's $10.50/can for the soy formula! I'm not sure about regular formula. There is a comparison chart on the can that shows how it's exactly the same as bigger brands, only half the cost.?

So that might help a lot! ?

  • Oh, and no, that budget doesn't include diapers. But we get our diapers at Costco.?
  • That's going to be hard. We really are trying to give DS the same things we gave DD. Same Formula and baby food. I gave up on the organic baby food last week. DH wasn't happy about it. I don't know how he'll feel about the formula. We buy Similac Advance at $21.50 a can. We used to buy Similac Organic for DD. I'll have to compare formula and talk to DH.

Guess what? I just added up February. We've spent $1468 in groceries and $210 eating out. I'm actually tearing up right now.

I think I'm going to start buying fruits and veggies at the stand and go cheaper on meat. We eat steak once a week and not the cheap kind.

Okay, I'm rambling now. Really, thank you so much. And like the other poster said, I know I might be the topic of a PABST next week. Lovely.

  • Really, it's not a *bad* thing to spend that much on food. Everyone does what they can! As long as you are living within your means, you don't have to feel guilty for buying higher quality/organic/just what you want. So, if you do end up the topic of a PABST, don't let anyone make you feel bad for having more money to spend on groceries than they do!?
  • You just made me smile. That's a really good way to look at it.
