I'm not a kindie teacher but I was just at our school's kindergarten round-up and they answered that question. They'd like the child to be able to sit politely in a group, be able to listen to a whole story, recognize their name when it is written, be able to zip their own coat and be able to take care of their own bathroom needs, and it is nice when they can hold scissors the right way.
when I worked in a kindergarten class room we tested the kids 3 times a year. We asked their address and phone number, sequences, patterns, grouping objects, colors, shapes, count to 50, know the alphabet upper and lower case. We did it in the begining of the year the middle of the year and they should know it by the end of the year
