Hi Mommies,
I'm in 2nd tri and trying to make a list of things I should register for.
I went BRU for the 1st time yesterday to buy some cream - and got very overwhelmed.
What items do you:
1 - use on a regular basis
2 - think is a waste of money
3 - wish you had now
Re: lurking from 2nd tri and need advice
1. Use on a regular basis - bouncy chair, swing, activity mat, boppy when he is playing, cloth diapers for burp cloths, nice blankets, soothie pacifiers.
2. Waste of money - bumbo (so far), thin receiving blankets (the ones that come in packs)
3. can't think of anything!
Good Luck!
Yes, BRU made my head explode! ?I registered for a very basic list of stuff - PnP, baby tub, 1 starter set of bottles, linens (crib bedding, baby towels), diaper bag, Boppy and slipcovers, stroller, carseat, that kind of thing. ?I didn't register for any clothes or any "nice to have things" (bottle warmer, wipe warmer, Bumbo, etc). ?I figured if I decided I needed any of those things after he got here, then fine, but I didn't need any of them so I think they're all a waste of $. ?The only things I wished I had after he got here were a different diaper bag, a bouncy seat (b/c nobody bought mine), and a different swing b/c he likes the one at daycare but not the one at home.
1 - use on a regular basis fisher price rainforest plug in the wall swing,
$26.99 bouncer from target (she sits in every morning while i shower and get ready), chicco cortina travel system (she LOVES the car seat, it is great), graco pnp (i got the $99 one with attached bassinett and she sleeps in it every night right by my bed- since i am breastfeeding), medela pump n style breast pump, boppy + 2 $9.99 boppy covers, some medela 5 oz bottles, diaper champ (although i wish is was bigger), baby bjorn (sooo great!)
2 - think is a waste of money wipe warmer (although i am torn because i do kind of like it since it fits tons of wipes and they are easy to pull out of it), hotsling (i dont feel comfortable with her in this and neither does she!), swaddles (she prefers the zip up sleeping blankets)
3 - wish you had now i cant think of anything, she has sooo much!
Use on a regular basis - Boppy Newborn Loungers, Boppy Pillows, Swings, Pack N Play, Diaper Genie, receiving blankets, and burp rags.
Waste of $ - we registered for only one type of bottle and I opened all the boxes and my babies hated that brand so we have tons of bottles we can't use and can't return; only get small boxes until you know what your baby will like, bathtub - ours will only do a bath if you are holding them.
Wish You Had Now - Night Nurse

The only thing I could not live without are my wraps, slings, and mei tai (BabyHawk) carriers - I don't think BRU carries any that are decent except maybe the Ergo?
I've also found the bouncer to be useful if I need a brief landing spot and he'll sometimes nap in it. I also really love having a co-sleeper.
Things I think are wastes...at this point I'd say a full sized swing. We have a small travel size one that works fine no more than we use it. Other people will say it's a must have though.

I love the Boppy, nursing clothes, breast pump(Medela PISA), many clothes to change after spit ups/blowouts, tons of burp cloths, Pack N Play, swing, and bouncer
I think tons of blankets are a waste of money, but DS hates to be swaddled so that limits how many we use.
I wish I had more nursing tops, giant pants to fit me, and I ended up buying a 2nd Boppy to keep on our 2nd floor.
DS is always almost in his swing! We have the FP rainforest one it is fantastic since it plugs in and I dont burn through batteries (they discontinued it but the one that replaced it is the Precious PLanet and i assume it is completely the same).
I also love the boppy pillow b/c even though I don't BF he likes to lay in it and I put him in it for tummy time!
Plus I love my microwave bottle sterelizer it makes things so much easier than boiling water and putting the bottles in there for 5 minutes!
Use on a regular basis:
-Multi use pads....Carters makes them and so does Especially For Baby (the BRU brand). ?They are great for a number of things (hence the name!), I use them to protect the changing pad cover since boys have a tendency to pee on a moments notice!
-Receiving blankets - great for swaddling when they first come home from the hospital.
-Regular Undershirts and onesie undershirts that snap at the crotch...you'll go through MANY a day!?
-Vaseline! ?Forget Desitin, Balmex or Butt Paste, this stuff rocks as a barrier for diaper rash!
-Bottle warmer - allows me to make up bottles up to 24 hrs. in advance and refrigerate...a great purchase, unless you are bf-ing.
Waste of Money - have not gotten to that yet....maybe those sleep sacks since he seems to overheat in them?
There is nothing I wish I had now, except more space!!
Good luck!
1 - use on a regular basis: bouncy seat (goes everywhere), activity mat, bassinette in our bedroom (because I BF) projection toy in crib (plays music and puts pictures up on ceiling, a moblie would probably work also)
2 - think is a waste of money: bottle warmer (have never used) diaper genie (so far)
3 - wish you had now : Highchair, better diaper bag
Piece of advice: after you have picked out stroller and diaper bag make sure they work together. My strap on diaper bag wont go over stroller handles and does not fit underneath it, so I have to carry diaper bag entire time. (Can you tell I HATE my diaper bag!!)
I love the swaddle me. By far it is my favorite baby product. I also like our swing, FP aquarium, and definetly the playmat, DS will lay there for hours swining at the toys!
I really like the boppy pillow too for feeding and for tummy time.
I wish I had a deeper bath tub. DS HATES baths when he is not covered at least up to his chest in water. Right now I have to take a bath with him to keep him happy. I think I will be getting the euro tub, the one with 5 stars on BRU online.
1. Swing, My Brest Friend for BFing, Boppy to prop him up on, bottle drying rack, bottle and nipple brush, receiving blankets for swaddling, sleepers, Halo Sleepsack with swaddle wings, side snap tees, Itzbeen timer, Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher.
2. Mittens. Just use socks or get the sleepers/tees with foldover hand things.
3. ?More bottles (you can't really register for that though since you don't know what bottle the baby will take).
1 - use on a regular basis swing (not so much anymore but a lot the first 6 weeks), bouncer, playmat, itzbeen timer (wish I had this from the beginning - just got it a week ago), spinning bottle drying rack, Lansinoh double eletric pump, Diaper Dekor, Boppy, receiving blankets, aquaphor, snap & go stroller
2 - think is a waste of money wipe warmer. sleep positioner, no scratch mittens (he hated them)
3 - wish you had now I've been buying things as we go and need them. I can't think of anything right now.
1 -- FP lamb swing (she still naps there!), Belle carrier, FP Jumperoo, Bumgenius cloth dipes, FP aquarium for crib, mobile for changing table, white noise machine, Uppababy Vista stroller
2 -- Maya wrap sling, pouch sling, Graco Safeseat (too bulky/heavy!), Bebepod (she doesn't like it), baby bathtub (she bathes with me)
3 -- Arm's Reach cosleeper (we'd been using her PnP bassinet, but she reached the weight limit), bouncer with more interesting toys
