I am fairly certain they are the same seat under a different name. I think they are both terrible seats.
Just curious why you think it's so bad? That's what we have & we love it, but we've not had anything else to compare it to other than the SnugRide.
Personally, I don't think the seat is worth the money. Why? Because of several reasons......
It is a PITA to install.
The height limit of the seat is often outgrown very quickly. Often at the age of 3 if not slightly before. This means that a child cannot be safely harnessed in this seat, because a 3 yr old should not be in a seat without a 5 -point harness. Also, the seat only harnesses to 40lbs. After you child outgrows the harness, you are left with a belt positioning booster, and with this particular seat (which is common in many boosters) the seat belt is usually not aligned correctly on the child which is dangerous.
It just isn't a seat that I would recommend. Many people that recommend it are first time users, and they really haven't had the seat long enough to know anything else.
I strongly suggest reading reviews on the seat, as well as checking out the car seat board on babycenter.com.

Ah, okay. I was just wondering. I didn't have any trouble installing it in my car, so that wasn't an issue, but like you said I've not had it very long, so I don't know what it will be like for DD in 3 years. Thanks for the feedback on it!?
Also, I guess they have a new seat out that harnesses to 50lbs instead of 40lbs. This seat gets better ratings than the old AOE, but unfortunately it is still a crappy booster, and definitely not the only seat you will need.
If you are ok with that (buying another seat later), then you would probably be ok going with one of the newer seats.
