2nd Trimester

BH?

I have been having what I assume are BH contractions, but they are somewhat painful, i dont remember getting BH this early in my last pregnancy, let alone being painful like real ones, they are not consistant so im not really worried but they happen every day every few hours, i dont like it, anyone else having this problem?

Re: BH?

  • l'm pretty sure I have my first bh last night. Even dh could tell my abdomen got really tight for about a minute. I've read that they start around 20 weeks but I was also shocked to feel it so soon. And this is my first!  But I'm just taking it as a good sign that my body will know what to do down the line and not get worried as long as I don't get too many of them in one day.

  • I get BH once in awhile.....some days more than others.  I find them quite uncomfortable to the point that they nearly take my breath away.   I've heard that in second pregnancies they can happen early then the first.
  • Mine began at 20wks with DD and about 15-16wks with this one.  Mine have always been painful but seem more so this time.  Dr wasn't concerned and told me that later pgs tend to be more painful overall.  Nice, huh?  I'd ask your OB to be on the safe side.

  • I was getting them quite a bit last week.  I called my doctor and they thought it was possibily due to dehydration. I started drinking a lot more water than normal and they went away.  If you are getting them a lot call your doctor...it cant hurt.
  •  If your BH are painful you should call your Dr. because she might want to check your cervix just to make sure its not preterm labor.
  • I've been getting them since around 14ish weeks this pregnancy in the same manner as yours and my Dr. said to just lay down and drink a lot of water and if I was having more than 6 in an hour and laying and drinking don't help then to come in.
