We rarely, if ever, call our DD by her name. It seems so formal and strange because we called her peanut throughout the entire pregnancy. We still call her peanut, but I'm starting to wonder if she's going to think that's her name. ![]()
Do you use your dc's name when you speak to him/her or do you use a nickname?
Re: Do you call your dc by their name or a nickname?
DS is Bennett, but we intended to always call him Ben. We call him Ben, but it sounds strange when people refer to him as Bennett.
Edit: As far as cutesy nicknames, we call him "Scrunch" (because he used to scrunch up so tiny) but not usually to him, just about him.?
We call her by her name for the most part.
Always by his full name or sweet baby boy. We do not want him to be called Alex - although I'm sure it will happen once he gets into school.
We always called him by his name in-utero also
I either call his real name, Alexander, or Turtle b/c he looked like a cartoon turtle when he was first born.
DH calls him by the shortened form of his name, Alek.
He responds to his full name though.
I almostnever use his name. Only if someone asks what it is. I call him My Bug, Buggy, Bug Bug, etc...
awww thats so cute! Georgia Peach!!
I call Kevin my little man or bug I dont know why . . . it just kinda came to me!
I love these nicknames!!
We call her Cami.. but we also call her Cami Bear or Bean or Jelly Bean.
I've been trying to call her Madeline more often, but I usually call her "Bear." It started out as Baby Bear back when we first came home from the hospital, and I quickly shortened it to Bear. I have no idea why I did this. I didn't plan to be a cutesy nickname kind of person. Also, I wish I'd come up with something better. SIL calls her 4-year-old Claire Bear, but just last month, I heard her call her Bear. Ugh. I didn't want to copy!
DH calls her Maddie Fat Pants on account of her cloth diapers.
We use 'little man' (or 'little guy') or 'bug' too...and bug usually turns into cuddlebug, stinkbug, lovebug, etc. I'm with many of the pp, DS's name (Wesley) is very formal and "big" to me! I'm trying to use it more, but it's hard...it usually turns into "Baby Wesley" (and my husband is slowly turning into "Big Wes").
