2nd Trimester

JEANS

I have a closet full of cute designer jeans, sevens, joes, etc that are uncomfortable to wear even with a bella band...

I would feel so guilty buying a pair of designer mat jeans, I just would hate to spend the money...

Did you splurge on jeans?  Where can I go to get a nice pair that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

Re: JEANS

  • I just bought two pairs of motherhood maternity secret fit belly jeans at Babies R Us...Kohls has them, too.

  • I have a pair that I inhearited from a friend from Old Navy and I LOVE them!  Try getting some online-they have a great selection.
  • I love my jeans from Target, Belk, and Motherhood Maternity.  They were all under $40.  They are comfy and fit really well.
  • I went to Mimi Maternity and tried on their Lucky Jeans as well as their Buffalo jeans.  I didn't like them as much as the Mimi jeans, so I just went with those.  They're super cute and very comfortable IMO. HTH!
  • No, I refused to spend $$ on designer maternity jeans, but that's just me. I bought a pair from The Gap; they work just fine for me.

  • I dont think its worth it to splurge on something you can only wear for a short period of time. I have gotten my jeans at old navy and they are just fine (they come in long lengths which was crucial). I thought Gap had a great selection online as well and their stuff is always pretty good quality.

p.s. if you are determined to have a pair of designer mat jeans, check on ebay first.....I got a bunch of stuff CHEAP from an (apparently) rich lady cleaning out her closet of mat clothes.

  • i splurged. i figure i'll be wearing them more than once a week for the remainder of the pregnancy, and for any subsequent pregnancies, too. i got a pair of the buffalo secret belly fit at pea in the pod. cheaper than the sevens, but still nicely cut. honestly, i had to - the store brand was massive on me. i could have been wearing mc hammer pants.
  • I'm the same way and didn't see a point in spending that kind of money on jeans I'm really only wearing for 4 months. So I just bought ones from Motherhood and Old Navy!
  • i could never brring myself to spend a lot of money on maternity jeans... and im usually a spender... i really like my ON jeans.

And think of it this way... you should be back to your pre preg size in no time with jeans like those just waiting to be worn again!! Talk about inspiration

  • I'd love to splurge, but can't.  I'm so pissed at maternity jeans in general right now that I bought 2 pairs of jeans in a slightly larger size - I'm hoping they last until spring when I can wear gaucho pants, skirts, dresses, and then maybe try my luck with maternity capris........the jeans will also work for after baby comes until I lose the weight:)
  • I can't justify spending big bucks on any maternity clothes really.

I haven't bought pants or jeans yet but will check out Old Navy, WalMart and Baby Depot.

  • I'm a jeans girl like you.  I always wore Sevens or Hudsons.  I bought a pair of used Seven maternity jeans on Ebay for $40 and they were the best investment ever.  As you know, the more these nice jeans are worn the better they get, so I figured why not buy a used pair?  I also got a nice Mimi brand from Pea in the Pod for $60 that look like designer jeans.
  • yup, i splurged on mat jeans. i also have a couple inexpensive pairs from the gap. but i got a pair of true religions and serfontaines, which i have to say i really love. they fit great. it was worth the $$ to me.
  • I too am planning to splurge.  I tried some Joe's on yesterday but seeing that I haven't gained any weight yet I decided to wait until I have more of a belly to decide on the size.  FWIW, the IT jeans are great and far less than Sevens, Joes or Citizens.  I think for maternity they are around $120.  They are super soft. Unless you are pretty tall you will probably have to have them hemmed though.  I have such a hard time finding jeans that are long enough but I love them!
  • I have to disagree with people who say you shouldn't splurge.  Now, in my case, I did not have to splurge?since my cousin lent me her designer maternity jeans (7 for All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity and one from Pea in the Pod but I forget the brand)?but the designer jeans fit MUCH better than those Motherhood ones.

    I have a real issue with Motherhood Maternity's jeans. They are sized S (4-6), M (8-10), L (12-14) and XL (16-18).  Now, pre-pregnancy, I was a size 6. I was not a 4. So the size S is way too small and the M is too big.

At least Gap or Old Navy?and I have pants from both?are sized and they fit me pretty well. A bit loose now, since I'm only 17 weeks, but using a tummy sleeve helps.

So splurging on one pair of really good maternity jeans?especially if you get the full panel kind and wear it more than once a week?isn't crazy. If it fits in your budget, go for it!

  • ALL my jeans are Gap, and that's where I plan to buy my maternity jeans. Since I'm short I need that ankle length. I never could justify spending $150 on jeans, but I don't blame people who do.

  • I got a pair from ON that lasted my entire pregnancy.

  • These are the BEST maternity pants ever!!! I got mine from the motherhood maternity store for $39.... They have the secret fit belly on shorts, skirts, and capris too. It is honestly the most comfortable band I have found... I tries several types with the elastic bands, but this is breathable, much more flexible and just awesome.

    Highly recommend them.

  • I don't own designer jeans anyway (I wear suits to work, so what's the point?), but I certainly wouldn't buy them for pregnancy.  You're only going to wear them for a few months.

We had a special "jeans day" at work last week, so I stopped by Old Navy and bought a pair of maternity jeans.  I got compliments on them all day, so I figure I'll just stick with those!  I don't know what kind they were, but they were the kind folded up on shelves (not hanging).  They're boot cut and have a full panel (which I folded down since I'm not super big yet).

  • old navy!  i have a number of designer jeans too but i personally wouldn't buy maternity ones simply because all i care about now is comfort and i wouldn't be willing to pay the price tag for something i wouldn't wear for much longer.  there are a couple of different styles at ON that i liked and some were even on sale.
  • I splurged on two pairs of maternity jeans at Pea in a Pod.  I'm like you... I have a closet full of Sevens, Joes, True Religions, etc & I just couldn't give them up for my pregnancy!  I bought a pair of sevens & a pair of buffalos & they are soooo comfy.  The buffalos weren't too expensive... not as much as I'm used to paying for jeans anyway.

  • I actually sell 7 for All Mankind and TR on ebay.  I start them at $45 and yesterday I two pair that didn't sell.  First time ever that they didn't sell!!!!!!  If you're interested my ID is theoutletstore2.  If I don't have your size listed just email me, I may have them but don't have them listed yet.

Ebay is the place to find cheaper jeans.  There was a girl last week that bought 2 pairs of TR of r$25 each.

  • I also have a closet full of them - mostly sevens but some paige, TR, and citizens.  I can still wear all of them because they sit low but I've bought a handful of designer maternity jeans for when my belly gets bigger.  I bought most of mine at nordstrom but I also got a few pair off ebay.  For me it's worth it and I can sell them on ebay when I'm done!
  • Try Marshells or Burlington Coat factory.... or even Gap Maternity or Old Navy....Comfy clothes and not raggged.

    :)

  • I agree with many of the others... I was *this* close to breaking down and spending $200 on mat. jeans and decided it would be no big deal to just try ON b/c they're so cheap. I'm so glad I did!!! I have the full panel flared ones and they're quite possibly my fav jeans ever! I never normally wear Old Navy jeans (they always fit funny and seemed cheap looking), but these are so totally cute!
  • I love my Old Navy maternity jeans. I have the full panel flare and the demi panel boot cut. They fit great!
  • I bought one pair of joe's jeans, and I LOVE them.  Well worth the $ b/c I wear them all the time.  I got them a while back and they still fit, which is great.  If they last the whole pregnancy they are well worth it.  That said, if they don't fit, I will not buy another pair, I'll just get a cheaper pair from Gap or something.....
  • I bought 2 pairs of Sevens during my first pregnancy and they were cute but not as comfortable as you would want. With this pregnancy I bought these Gap jeans and I LOVE them they are sooo comfortable and look cute with flats, sandals, and boots.     https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6017&pid=605318

  • I haven't bought any designer jeans *yet* but I'm currently looking.  I did buy some from Motherhood, and I have to say, I'm not loving the fit.  I'm not one to buy designer jeans... I didn't have any pre-pregnancy, but I'm having a hard time finding cute jeans that fit well.  I'm tall and a size 10/12 pre-preg, so it's been a challenge to find jeans that are long enough and that come in larger sizes.  I've been looking at Paige maternity jeans and will probably try a pair of those.  I ordered a pair of Citizens of Humanity mat jeans online (Kelly in the Big Sur wash), but the biggest they have is a size 32 and they barely fit me now, so I knew they wouldn't fit as I grew.  I had to send them back.  They were adorable, though!
