I have to tell you that you really truely bothered me today.  As a mom to another mom it bothered me when you posted that little girls with pierced ears looked slutty.  In no way does my 3 year old look slutty.  It bothered me more than anything else on this board.  I have to tell you I am portugues and this is the norm for my culture.  I think "slutty" was a poor choice of words

kevs I am truly sorry you are bothered, and I truly meant you no offence but I don't think I should have to censor my views (esp online) just because there's a vareity of opinion on here including yours and that you might take offence.

To me it does look slutty. I make allowances for the kids because I know their parents could not possibly mean that, and probably have some kind of cultural reason to do it (it seems common in America not just amongst certain ethnic subgroups). But that doesn't change the fact it looks slutty TO ME. KWIM?

I cannot honestly say it only looks slutty if you're white anglo saxon protestants but not if you're hispanic or chinese or whatever (picked chinese since there isn't a cultural tradition to do it there). To me that would be hypocritical and also just not how I see it.

?What do I think when I see a 6 month old hispanic baby with pierced ears? I think something like, that poor kid, her mother doesn't know how that looks to some others. Its not that I think the mother is trying to MAKE her look like I see it looking.
