What things do you think fall into the 'you get what you pay for' and what things do you think you are just throwing you money away if you don't get the bargain?
Cable. We don't have it because the price is outrageous for as much as we would be home. MH works nights and I'm gone from 645 to 5. Is that what you mean?
If it's something we're going to have for a long time, or use a lot for a short period of time, we pay more for something. So I bought a nice sling and swing for DD, we have quality cars and I also buy brand-name food, because it's going into our bodies and most of the time I can tell the difference.
I skimp on DD's clothes - they get light use for a short period of time. I mostly buy from Target and the Carter's Outlet.

I think there are a lot of expensive things that are just as crappy as the cheap things. Like DH had a merceedes when we got married that was new and it sucked, always had problems, even still under warranty.
When it comes to kids, I do think you get what you pay for with strollers, but that doesn't mean you can't find a great stroller on a good sale.
I have also not been pleased with Target brand majic erasers. They suck compared to the regular one. I like Purex clothes detergent, and it is cheap by comparision. I like my super cheap $50 graco pack n play. I like target diapers, but buy pampers sensitive wipes because I bought some of the others and the scent sent me into sneezing fits.
I'm a person who will buy the generic 9 times out of 10. I'm cheap and poor. I'm racking my brain to think of things I MUST have the 'expensive' version of:
Toilet paper Canned tuna
I assume there are a few others, but I can't think of them. I hunt around for the best deal on a product or service--always.
Well I have had a mercedes and a volkswagon and I'll never own another of either. I drive a Dodge Grand Caravan now and it's the most reliable car I've ever owned.
I try and buy organic and name brand food so I guess that is a splurge that I think is worth the money. I shop a lot at Target and Carter's for dd's clothes too. I really can't think of anything else that I splurge on - we're pretty frugal!
I agree with FFG, toilet paper is definitely worth the money!
In our area, daycare is definitely get what you pay for, the less expensive places were very scarey.
Cookies, no name sandwich cookies are my current favorite. I like them more than oreos.
Work out clothes - worth the money. I love lu lu lemon.
Maternity clothes - love target! They last for the 5 months of wear that you need. I can't justify paying $200 for a pair of pants I only plan to wear for 5 months (although if I get PG again, I may buy a pair of kick @ss jeans...)
I will only use Huggies Natural Fit diapers, but buy the Costco wipes. Most things, I go for cheaper, but when it comes to needing something for a long time or something I've tested the quality of, I'll pay the money. I have learned to rely less on name brand since DH has been out of work.

I am praying that the extra money we spent on our Disney vacation will be worth it, Disney hotel.
Also, the bedroom set that I want for DD. I figure if I "invest" in good furniture, it will last longer.
