Hi, I mostly lurk here due to time difference, but I was just wondering if anyone has travelled to Hong Kong while pregnant. DH and I are spending three nights there this coming week and I am after info on where to eat and where I should avoid.
TIA

How far along are you? As far as food goes just stay away from the raw stuff and mercury. Chinese food is good try the quail, it tastes like chicken, that is if meat doesn't make you queasy.
i've been to Hong Kong (not while ku) and if you're really worried then stick to the American & Americanized foods- hong Kong is like a mix of NYC & LA IMO. they have alot of "regular" food & alot of ethnic food- also you're prtty safe if you stay away from the raw stuff & high in mercury seafood.
I am ten weeks, I suppose I am wondering if it is safe to eat in the markets or just stick to the hotels and big food courts, of course I won't eat anything raw or salad. Mostly I am dying for Yum Cha as South Africa doesn't have it and I live on it when in Australia.

i'd say you're pretty safe to eat in the markets too- things that have been cooked though. nothing raw. i would question eating it even if i wasn't ku.
ummm- am i the only one who didn't enjoy the duck? it was ok, but a bit too greasy for my taste.
I can't wait for the duck, my tastebuds are tingling just thinking of it. I have managed to loose 1.5Kg so far this pregnancy and am planning on putting it all on while in Hong Kong!

Go for the Peking duck, you'll be in heaven although right now it sounds a bit hellish to me.

Seeing as how people in Hong Kong have babies...I think you are safe. LOL.
And avoid back alley chinese places! I got sick in Mexico eating back alley mexican food..oh good god. It was AWFUL!
