Anyone watch the Dr's yesterday? Lisa said women who are TTC should drink whole milk! YUCK, I drink skim and can't even think about drinking whole milk, Anyone do this? Is this old news to everyone but me!?
This is because they add extra protein to skim milk to make it feel thicker. Additional protein has been associated with reduced fertility (so i'm assuming south beach or atkins diets would not be great while ttc).
My doctor suggested I eat full fat dairy - but was understanding about whole milk and suggested and switch to 2% instead.
So maybe I'll start drinking 2%. I grew up on it, but then when Dh and I started dating he only drank skim, so I converted! Maybe I should change back... So it's the protein in skim that's bad huh? interesting!
"Women with high protein intakes (>100 grams per day) were more likely to report ovulatory problems than women with lower protein intakes (~77 grams per day).
Researchers also found that ovulatory infertility was nearly 40% more likely in women with the highest intakes of animal protein."
I drink vanilla rice milk -- I have a bit of a lactose intolerance. Seeing how the PNV's constipate me, though, maybe the milk-induced diarrhea would balance me out!

So true. I do this because it is the ONLY thing my doctor mentioned in my pre-conceive appointment.

I don't care what anyone says, we have some VERY smart and helpful women on here! Thank you so much for doing the research!
DH is vegetarian so I rarely eat meat, so if I'm getting protein from skim milk I am good with that.
I
Skim Milk with Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup, om nom nom.

There are 3g of protein per 100ml of skim milk (at least the kind I drink).
I would have to drink 3 liters of skimmed milk to get over 100mg of protein, so I think I'm okay
EDIT: By comparison a grilled chicken breast has around 40g of protein.

That's disgusting - not to mention adults do not really need that much milk in their diets.
I also use vanilla rice milk, it's the best! Took a period of adjustment, but it's great on Cheerios.
