I was the only one to say I dont feel like its Christmas morning when I get my kids from daycare aft

Im awful I feel terrible.  I do like seeing my kids for the most part but sometimes Danica is just awful.  Do parents usually feel this excited about seeing their kids?

  • You were probably the only one that was honest.

Believe me, I feel awful and terrible about some of my other parenting abilities for sure.

ETA:  You were probably the only one that was honest about feeling that way.  I'm not saying those who get excited are lying.

  • I look forward to 12:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I love hearing the excitement in Alexander's voice as he tells me all about his day.  I also miss him for those 3 hours that he's gone.  I can't imagine how much I would miss him if he were away from me all day long while I was at work or something like that where I would have no child interaction.

I miss Zachary when he's in school all day...but I've gotten so used to it (6th grade already).  I still ask him about his day as soon as he gets in the house with hopes that he will actually say something....he's at that age where you just get the short abridged version of every answer.

I'm not sure if there's an op you're referring to but I get what you're saying. When I'm away from A I usually miss her a bit and am happy to get her but w/in 5 min. she's doing something and my buzz is over. ;-)

  • There are some days I'm not exactly excited about picking him up (mostly when he's been a handful) but I always look forward to seeing him.  But most days when I pick him up (they are usually out playing on the playground) and he sees me and sprints across the playyard all crazy and excited screaming "MAMAMAMA"  that it feels just like Christmas.  When I have two kids though, I'll let you know what my answer is!  I'm sure it might change!

  • I didn't answer because I don't feel like it's Christmas.  I love my daughter.  I love spending time with her.  I love picking her up from daycare and seeing how happy she is to see me.  I just am not that excited about picking her up.

  • The initial picking up is like Christmas.  I LOVE seeing my kids after a day of work.

BUT there are days after we get in the car (most days lately--still adjusting to two kids, and I'm sure I always will be) when I'm brought back down to reality and it isn't so glamorous anymore.  Like when DD#2 is crying because she's exhausted and wants to nurse and DD#1 is being a complete pill because she's hungry and therefore CRANKY!
