Where can I donate an old car seat?

we've been getting tons of hand-me-downs and want to donate a carseat that is around 3 years old. goodwill won't take it. any ideas where I can unload it?

Most states you can't. In many states it is not legal to sell a used carseat and consignment shops will not take them either. Public safety hazard.

A garbage can? Like PP it is illegal in most states to re use carseat.  A used carseat is sort of a big no no.

I gave an old one to the CHP to dispose of.

You might want to check with your local public health office or anything other place that teachs child care including safely putting a baby in a carseat.  I donated my car seat that was in an accident to our local public health office, as they plan on using it to demonstrate how to properly use it.
