Anyone have an appointment like this?

I had an early ultrasound due to special circumstances, but my doctor's office usually just does a 10 week appt with the nurse practitioner to discuss do's and don'ts and do bloodwork and then an u/s at 12 weeks.

 So I have those two appts coming up....But I'm wondering if they will check for a heartbeat or anything at the 10week...I forgot to ask!

Mine tried to hear the HB with a doppler at 10 weeks, but it was too early. Since we couldn't hear it we got another US! Yay!

Agreed... they usually won't be able to hear the heartbeat that early... but you should see it on an u/s.

Mine is similar...I went last week for lab work.  At 9 weeks I will see the nurse to discuss everything, then set up an appt. with the dr. after that.  I'm assuming we'll do the u/s then...hoping anyway!

I had my first appt today, at exactly ten weeks.  She checked for the heartbeat and found it pretty easily.  She said it helped that I am fairly thin.

My first appointment was at 10 weeks. He told me beforehand to not let it scare me if we didn't hear the heartbeat but I said I wanted to try anyway.We heart it loud and clear almost immediately. I don't think that's very common though, baby must have been in a good spot.

Yep, Thats what i had to do, but only because i am having my baby on a army post.

With both of my pregnancies the mid wife was able to hear the heart beat at 8 weeks with the Doppler.  wish you the best of luck!

I would be surprised if they did check for the hb at the 10 wk appt.  Our clinic has a similar format: visit with the nurse around 9 wks, see the doctor around 12 wks.  At the nurse visit, I peed in a cup, gave away what seemed like half my blood, and answered a million questions about family history.  At the 12 wks appt, the doctor checked for the hb with the external monitor as part of the regular monthly check-up.
