How many balls for a ball pit?

I liked how I can use it as a little pool too.

It does not come with any balls.  How many should I get?

Our local Walmart has 100 balls for about $9.97.  I was thinking about getting this ball pit https://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=huc_ic_1_txt/190-6604214-4982251?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B000H124DI&nodeID=&merchantID=A1VC38T7YXB528  but DH suggested just a pool instead.  Opinions?
