In your baby journey, what baby gear did you hold onto for number two (or three or four) and what did you sell?
DH wants to sell it all and rebuy (he hates storing things). I am not so excited by the prospect of rebuying everything. For sure we will keep the Rainforest bouncer, but other than that, I don't know where to draw the line.
Re: What to keep and what to sell?
That is such a tough question. For now I've boxed all his infant items up and put the clothing into space saver type bags labeled by size. Many items have been passed down to his cousin and I would expect that I would re-purchase those items new. We still don't know how many years we will put between kiddos so I hate to get rid of everything.
So far I think I have decided to sell: crib bedding, receiving blankets that were not used much if at all, burp clothes that were not used much if at all, pacifiers still new in packages (he never used one), and I am thinking his swing and possibly the exersaucer, some clothing items I'm not in love with and donating those that have a little wear but still some life left.
Definitely keeping: infant car seat, bouncer, pack n play, clothing that is in good or new condition, rainforest jumper.
I sell most all clothes (unless they are unique, one-of-a-kind items) for the simple reason that I LIKE TO SHOP, and will certainly want to shop some more when/if we have a #2 (even if it is another girl).....not to mention that styles change and it's already been almost 3 years since she was born.
I have kept most of the valuable/pricey baby gear....although I'm getting closer and closer to wanting to sell it because I am sick of storing it. Mainly because the stuff was not only expensive, but some of it a pain to assemble. And also because that just isn't the KIND of stuff I like shopping for.
I have also lent out quite few of the larger items....kind of on a "I'll let you know if I ever want it back" basis.
I kept everything for the second baby. The only item we didn't use at all the second time around was the Bumbo seat. However it was super easy to re-use most of the stuff since our two are the same gender.
Despite keeping all the clothes, I was surprised by how few of them I chose to re-use. Many things just reminded me too much of Sarah and I felt funny having Elizabeth wear them. The girls have different personalities and identities so I wanted them to have their own clothes. DH laughed and laughed at this justification for buying more baby clothes when there were tons of clothes in boxes in the closet!
We kept everything. Julia does have some new clothes, but even most of those are Elena's hand-me-downs. And everything is going back into storage. If we don't have another, it will go to my sister who's ttc now.
just didn't make financial sense to us to get rid of any of it.

I kept everything that I bought... swing, pump, nursing stool, bassinet and some other stuff. I had borrowed some stuff and I gave it back when I was done (so she could give it to her SIL). Most of the stuff that I have stored has actually been out on loan for quite a while and just came back. I'll probably loan some of it out again even though #2 is already on the way.
Oddly enough, we're back to using the bumbo every day. DD rediscovered it and loves to sit in it and watch TV and that's where she sits while I fix her hair in the mornings.
