I'm buying a lot of smalls from a friend of a friend. She is giving me her kushies because she hates them so much. I've read you either love them or hate them. Figure it's worth it to try them out, but not sure I would buy them until I know.
I got a bunch of larges off freecycle. We use them for home diapers but they seem a little too stiff to me to be used as away from home diapers. No leaks though so that is the important part. And they sun really well.
I received a 5-pack of the NB size at my shower (didn't register for them). First problem - the NB size doesn't have a cutout or fold option to expose the umbilical stump. So can't wear until after that. Then once she lost her stump, my DD still seemed too small for the diapers. I would keep adjusting the closure, but the legs would be really gappy/could see light from one side to the other. We waited a week or two, by then we found the waist to be snug and the legs still too gappy to wear without leaks.
On the Kushies site they say you can remedy with stuffing the diaper. I don't see why you should buy a diaper knowing you will have to alter it/stuff it if you don't need the extra absorbancy. I tried anyway with a MF insert and they still were gappy/prone to leaks. The legs are just basic elastic without gussets or contouring like other AIO diapers I have experienced.
The fabric is far more stiff than other AIO diapers, and I found they took even longer than BG to dry.
Re: Kushies Brand Cloth Diaper System
I have no experience, but you can research different brands on diaperpin.com

I have a Kushies Ultra AIO 5-pack. So far I like them a lot, although this is the only AIO that I've ever used.
They're pretty big for my 6 week old. They come way up on his waist. We actually stuff them with a prefold and use them as our night diaper.
