i HATE getting yelled at!!!

sometimes my job irks me. i work for an elected official and my job is to basically represent him in the community. i was at an event this morning about alternative energy, it was a grant check presentation to a local college to fund solar power stuff.

I get up and say what my boss told me to say - basically that we all need to work together to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, that both democrats and republicans have ignored this issue for far too long and it's time for a bipartisan effort to get things done. and that he commends those giving and getting this grant for the work they are doing.

not even a little offensive. at least that is what i thought. this lady comes up to me afterwards and says "I'm a Democrat and I'm PISSED! i can't believe you made this a partisan thing!"

huh??? how is saying we all need to work together and commending them on doing just that making it partisan! she was yelling at me and being very rude. i don't care if you're a Republican or a Democrat, don't yell at me! and i can't even really stick up for myself effectively, b/c i'm representing my boss and obviously am not going to get into it with some random lady.

but seriously, i hate that. all i could say was "i apologize if that's what you got from what i said, but i sincerely was not making this a partisan thing."

anyway, just had to vent. the worst part is that i get yelled at for saying exactly what i was supposed to say, and i just had to take it. ugh.

Her rant doesn't even make sense! You said both parties had ignored the issue and both parties needed to work together. Some people only hear what they want to hear. Being someone else's representative would be hard for that exact reason. Sorry she was a jerk.
